LO1: legal issues

Legal Issues to think about when making a product:
1. copyright
2. health and safety - Risk assessment / location recce
3. permissions for locations - release + consent form - locations / actors/models



Libel and slander
1.definition of what it means - libel is a written statement that is a published false statement, using defamatory(saying something that is descramatory about someone, slander is when its spoken.
2. Three reasons why its important - Its the ground rules to make sure something is yours, you could be sued. It could harm the reputation of the person in question.
3 What are the consequences of not adhering to this law - People have got the right to sue
4. Find an example of where this legal issue was breached - social "trolls" on twitter, cameron dias sued the sun for saying she had an affair
5. How does this law effect pre-production of a media product? - think about lible in print base products to make sure it isn't defamatory

Data protection act
1.Definition of what it means - the data protection act controlls your personal information act used by your organisations,buissnesses or the goverment. everyone responsible for using data has to follow rules called 'data protection law, they protect it through encription
2. Three reasons why its important - it protects from fraudulent and unauthorised access to information
3 What are the consequences of not adhering to this law - companies who breach this act may face heavy penaltys. they can get fines up to £500,000. some companies have to commit to a particular corse of action to improve their comliance.The ICO has the authority to audit(record things) goverment information without consent.victems can get comansation
4. Find an example of where this legal issue was breached - M&S failed to encrypt a employe laptop, which got stolen
5. How does this law effect pre-production of a media product? - in acordance with the DPA, a media product, such as a television series or film:
-fairly lawfull and processed;
-processed for specific purposes
-adequate, relevent and not excessive
-kept secure
they must make sure everyone in the media products information is kept safe.

3 What are the consequences of not adhering to this law - 150 hours of community work and $500 fine.

3 What are the consequences of not adhering to this law - unauthorised use of intellectual property is called is called infringement. you are fined for breaking the law
4. Find an example of where this legal issue was breached - Apple and Samsaung go to court a lot due to eachothers phones being similar
5. How does this law effect pre-production of a media product?give examples - The companies have to consider about copyright, any work done has to be checked for consent
